Caddisfly Larvae (Trichoptera)
Caddisfly larvae are aquatic insects known for their unique case-building behavior. Found in freshwater habitats like streams and rivers, they construct protective cases from materials such as sand, small stones, twigs, or plant debris, using silk they produce from glands near their mouths.
These larvae have elongated, soft bodies with distinct segmented appearances and hardened head capsules. Most species breathe through gills and are sensitive to water quality, they feed on algae, detritus, and small invertebrates.
