the water cricket is a native aquatic insect very similar in appearence and behaviour to the pond skater ,common in most freshwater habitat including ponds ,lakes ,rivers ,ditches and even puddles ,water crickets live on the surface of the water where it feeds on insects that fall on the water ,they do best in environments without pond skaters.
