Thesr plants can survive in outdoor ponds during the warmer months but will die back in winter , they provide excellent surface cover for breeding fish or a platform for amphibians to rest on aswell as helping to reduce algae blooms ,the plants underwater roots are also excellent at absorbing waste ,they also make an excellent addition to both coldwater and tropical aquariums  for more information on each species see there individual listings.
