alder is a common native tree which can reach a height of 20 meters but can also be trimmed and kept as a smaller shrub ,the alder grows in moist habitats like river banks and the edges of ponds and will happily grow with its roots fully submerged which makes it suitable as a marginal plant ,the sapplings you will receive will be between 20 and 40 cm.
